The tree is symbolic
Of all of one’s life
From relationship to objects
From loving and/or strife.
The branches resemble
The base of the brain
That grows with its neurons
Through love and the pain.
It stretches experience
It divides with connection
It reaches its apex
Yet constantly resurrected.
Life’s experiences resemble
These branches so near
As we reach for the light
Our direction is clear.
We cling to the branches
So much like ourselves
Reflecting our values
Morals, beliefs, wealth.
The tree is the metaphor
Connecting all One
As moments can change
Adding to the fun.
Remembering experiences
Separated from others
During childhood days
Were like sisters and brothers.
Those childhood relations
Years pass, lessons learned
Far away, now unseen
Another branch we do yearn.
As the tree grows larger
Older broader with age
Distance between branch tips
Sharing wisdom like sage.
Those that are different
Seem much farther away
Deceiving perceptions
The deception we pay.
Liberals Conservatives
Republicans Democrat
Catholics and Jews
Poor or Aristocrat.
Farmer or Banker
Doctor or Priest
Teacher or Student
Lawyer or Thief .
All of us connected
To the same trunk and tree
All of us the same
Absent spaces between.
With objective vision
Standing far back
See the whole tree
Observing the fact.
It’s all one big tree
Yet different the branches
Illusion of separateness
Stupid behavior and dances
Experiences seem real
Look not we alike
Come from the same source
The giver of life.
Revel in the contrasts
Enjoy all the challenges
Find love and beauty
Everywhere its unbounded!
Be awe struck daily
Be grateful and kind
Loving inspiring
These qualities that bind.
